The historical references and its backgrounds , the practices followed by the temple are very ancient , The Karagashaktyutsava referring to the Krutha yuga practice of Shaktha Pantha and this place is referred as Kalyanapuri which is quoted in puranas. The sthothras/Rhymes are in Aravu language which is in practice of society prior to historical period. On the basis of this we can say that , this is an Oldest & Ancient Temple.
